BREAKING: FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS OF LATE QUEEN MOTHER OF ASHANTI REGION

Manhyia Palace has issued a ban on funerals and noise making to be enforced during the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II on Friday December 1-11 Monday December, 2017.

No family will be allowed to conduct funerals within this period in the Kumasi metropolis. There will be performances by traditional priests and priestesses from 6:am-6:pm on Friday December 1, 2017 at the palace opened to the public.

Store owners trading around the central business district such as Adum, Kejetia, Pampaso, K-0, Roman Hill etc have also been instructed not to sell their wares on Monday December 4, 2017.

The palace executioners will deal ruthlessly with stubborn traders who will not adhere to the ban.

On this day, there will be traditional wailing where the royals are expected to walk from Manhyia to Adum whilst mourning the late Asantehemaa.

On December 5, 2017, there will also be firing of musketry (Atrane) where the Otumfuo will sit in State to distribute palm wine, receive sympathies and donations at the Manhyia palace opened to the public.

There will be a curfew on Saturday December 9, 2017, 10:pm to Sunday December 10, 2017, 5:am where the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu and the Asantehemaa will send ‘Abusua kuruwa to Breman.

The 13th queen mother who aged 100 plus died last year and was buried January 19, 2018
